ccso-ccom.ca This site has lots of links to canada trails and clubs. Also altasnowmobile.ab.ca/links/organizations.php is direct to Albertas web page.

Also check the alberta forestry guys. There are sledding area's designated...

For REAL riding, most Calgarians head to Golden.

Real riding? As long as my thumb is clamped, vise grip style on the throttle, it is as real as it gets! Ha
The ride planning is slow, but coming along for the 06 trip.

Good luck on sleddin' new guy.

Look into the Crowsnest Pass/Castle, Cataract Creek/Etherington, Wiaporous/Ghost, and finally MacLean Creek area(s).

Crowsnest/Castle (Mountain-Alpine!) Cataract (Mountains, varied) Waiprous (Tree'd trails, no alpine) Maclean Creek (Treed Trails, no alpine)

Waiprous and Maclean are VERY WELL mapped... You can get trail maps at Modern Motors... The AURS makes em...

Cataract creek is mapped by alberta forestry, and i think some of the Crowsnest is as well. Try searching the web. I think i found some stuff a while back.

If you do, let me know where they are and I will add them to the links are for anyone else who may want to check them out.

(Or i will also add them to the maps area)

Cataract creek, Etherington and Maclean Creek/Sibbald Area winter maps are sold by the Friends of Kananaskis. They sell them on their website or at a Kananaskis Country Visitor Information booth for $1.25. http://www.kananaskis.org/brochures.htm
I would scan mine and post them but they can use the cash and not paying the $1.25 would be like taking some kids lunch money. I did copy mine onto Never Tear paper. It's tear proof and waterproof.

My favorate thing to do with maps is take my gps with me, and then I make tracks in it while im riding.

Then when I get home, I put my tracks in to my computer running Ozi Explorer, onto topographical maps... Then I can print out a new trail map after every ride, adding the new tracks to the map each time.

Its cool to get the whole picture, and see the layout of the land you where riding.

I just picked up an Etrex Summit and I hope to do the same thing with sledding and mountain biking. I haven't bought Ozi Explorer yet. I'm guessing you haven't had any problems with this software? I also bought a helmetcam. I'll be the gadget geek out there wired up like a monkey but I want to get video of our rides. I like to play around with video editing. Any tips on Ozi Explorer would be great.

Dmac does the Cataract Cr. map show the Alexander Forestry Road via the pass (ie. Barill Loop, if that's how it's spelt)?.
I've climbed some of it but have yet to complete it due to the fact that my Dad and brother could not make it up because it was later in the year (too icy). I'm hoping I manage to make a trip out there this year and finally complete the trip to Alexander.
